UC Berkeley’s New Global Freshman Program Offers Online Study Abroad Option

BERKELEY, Calif .– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – UC Berkeley Global is proud to announce its Global Freshman Program (GPF), launched in Fall 2020. This unique “Online Study Abroad” program is designed for students first-year academics looking for a cohesive and cohesive learning community. in a digital learning environment.
Students will have access to Berkeley instructors and mentors while working closely with their peers in small cohorts using online tools. GPF offers Humanities and Science (L&S) courses that cover key prerequisites for majors in various disciplines. Elective courses allow students to earn a total of 15 credits per semester, while additional programs will focus on issues important to first-year students, including preparation for college life, choosing a major and career development.
At the end, students get credits that they can transfer to their home institution. This makes GPF an ideal opportunity for universities looking for a high quality online option for their incoming students, or for any individual student who wants a rich and stimulating first year experience. GPF instructors will emphasize the links between classroom learning and experiential learning by integrating cohort and community activities mapped to core courses and electives.
According to Dr. Diana Wu, Dean of UC Berkeley Global and UC Berkeley Extension, the program will include one-on-one counseling and coaching, while introducing students to life at a major research university. âOur goal is to prepare students for a successful college experience, so I’m excited about the mix of thoughtful study programs, high impact advice and special programs.
